Ingredients
- 1 kg Basmati Rice
- 500 gm Chicken
- 2 Onions
- 1 tbsp Ginger-Garlic Paste
- 1 tsp Red Chili Powder
- 1 tsp Garam Masala Powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 Bay Leaves
- 4-5 Cloves
- 2-3 Cardamom Pods
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 4 tbsp Ghee
- 4 cups Water
- Salt (as per taste)
Instructions
- Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.
- Heat ghee in a large pan and add the whole spices (bay leaves, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon
stick).
- Add sliced onions and sauté until golden brown.
- Add ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute.
- Add chicken and cook until it changes color.
- Add red chili powder, turmeric powder, garam masala powder, and salt. Mix well.
- Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.
- Drain the water from the soaked rice and add it to the pan. Mix well and cover the pan with a
tight-fitting lid.
- Cook on low flame for 20-25 minutes or until the rice is cooked.
- Remove the lid and fluff the rice with a fork.
- Serve hot with raita or salan.
